Courageous Waiting

I’m not a big fan of waiting. Waiting is just so frustrating - I don't like it at all. There have been seasons of my life where I have spent a lot of time in waiting rooms, especially with my children. We’ve waited and waited at speech pathologists, specialists, the orthodontist, in doctors surgery’s, at Medicare, at the Roads & Maritime Services office and in hospitals. I don’t like waiting rooms, and I really don’t like waiting! I’m sure I’m not alone - most of us are not very patient. We want answers quickly. We want things now. We especially want our Internet connection to be fast. The problem with our impatience is that we may begin to doubt God if there is any delay in answering our prayers. We get confused when the will of God is different than our own timetable or agenda. For all of us, there are seasons of waiting, and during those seasons we can choose to wait courageously. God knows that some lessons can only be learned over time. There are some things we cannot understand and sometimes it is necessary that we spend time in the waiting room. In Genesis 8 we read about Noah’s time in the waiting room, well actually, the waiting boat. He didn't know where and he didn't know when they would ever leave the Ark, but he kept going. The fact is he didn't have a lot of choice, and we don’t usually have a lot choice either. Sometimes we just have to wait. The bible tells us though, that Noah continued to trust God.
