One Thing I Ask

In this time of isolation more and more people are turning to video conferencing platforms like FaceTime, House Party, Skype and Zoom. There is something about even just seeing someone’s face that seems to draw them closer. In the Old Testament the word that means “Presence” as in “The Presence of God,” was literally the word for ‘face’. Since they didn’t have video conferencing facilities, they understood that if you could see someone’s face, you were in their presence, so the word was the same. Last weekend Jo Brookshaw Art, an officer from Craigieburn in Victoria did a live broadcast of her painting a picture of someone holding a phone and video conferencing with Jesus. Check it out here…. (facebook.com/jobrookshawart/posts/233246378084185) In Psalm 27, King David writes that no matter what happens in life, the One Thing he seeks is the presence of God. This one thing is what helps him stand in the face of life’s chaos and pain.
