CloseGardening is not my strong suit. At our house the garden is not large but it does not always get the attention it deserves. If left too long without some serious attention, our garden becomes an overwhelming tangle of trees, bushes and, mostly, weeds. I have learned the hard way that I have to go out every once in a while and cut-back, trim down, remove debris, and get down to the drudgery of weeding. If I don’t, our garden becomes an overwhelming mess. Our lives are similar. Without paying attention to the things that need to be taken out, cut back or undone, our lives they can become like a tangled garden of weeds. Over the past four weeks we’ve been considering some of the species of weeds that need to be deliberately uprooted from our lives; indifference, hollow worship and hypocrisy. This week we take a look at spiritual pride as a toxic growth that threatens our wellbeing.
