Trust and Obey
Admittedly, I am a bit of a nerd. I love to learn. I love books, new facts, theories and ideas. I loved studying Commerce at Uni when I finished school, and I have absolutely loved studying Theology and learning more about God, His Word and Christian Leadership over the last 5 years while completing my Masters. Okay, so I don't really love the pressure of completing assessment tasks so much, but gaining knowledge does just fuel me. The only concern with my love of learning is that I could spend the rest of my life reading and absorbing everything, but doing nothing. One of the most important things we can pursue in life is wisdom. This truth is a key theme of the entire book of Ecclesiastes. Knowledge is what we know, but wisdom is what we do. At some point we need to simply obey what we know to be true. We can research an issue for so long that we begin to suffer from the paralysis of analysis. Life comes without guarantees, and usually over-thinking and over-researching does not bring any progress in our life. For this reason, Solomon says, “There’s no end to the publishing of books, and constant study wears you out so you’re no good for anything else. The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you.” Ecclesiastes 12:12-13(MSG) Wise counsel, sufficient resources, relational support, and even knowledge are of no help to me if I don’t fear God. Scripture emphasises that we should not be afraid of God, but that we should fear him. To fear the Lord is to consider God above everything and everyone else. To fear the Lord is to do what is right in God’s eyes, even if it means that the outcome will likely not be in our best interest. The truth is that our lives are driven by fear. The question is not if we will fear, but who we will fear. Join us as we conclude our series, ‘Satisfied’ and consider how to live the obedient life God intended for us. #satisfied #wollongongsalvos #welovesundays
